Whether you are pro or anti-gun, one thing I think most people agree on is that guns should not be put in the hands of those who are incompetent or unwilling to use them responsibly.
In fact, that’s the reason the Brady Law was passed in the 1990’s. It requires licensed gun sellers to check an instant database and do background checks before they can sell guns. If the database shows the the potential buyer is banned from owning a gun, the seller will refuse to sell it.
In theory this means that only responsible people will buy guns, but in practice private sellers do sell guns without checking backgrounds.
But I personally think the Brady Law is a step in the right direction. If it kept a gun out of the hands of only one dangerous person, that’s a start.

I use padded envelopes because I know that I can trust that no matter what I am sending that it will always arrive in the same condition as it left.
