Nerds, geeks, and casual pop culture vultures have a lot to thank comic book publishers for. Publishing Comic Book related stuff is quite difficult though. Many of us occasionally purchase comic books but it isn’t the occasional purchasers who make the biggest impact on the industry. Collectors keep comic publishers in business as they tend to be loyal repeat buyers, sometimes even after a certain series has devolved quality wise (don’t expect them to keep buying for much longer, though). As an industry with a discerning audience that relies on serials, the pressure is immense to keep quality optimal.
